dare Manor is a luxury 5-star hotel located in Adare, Co. Limerick. It is, without a doubt, one of the most stunning hotels we have ever stayed in. We received a warm welcome on arrival, and the check in process was very smooth and efficient.
It was newly renovated in 2017 and the decor throughout the whole hotel is beautiful. It is the perfect mix of old-world elegance and modern luxury. The hotel is extremely well run, with incredibly well-maintained lawns and grounds. The attention to detail was exceptional. The staff were amazing, both very attentive and professional. Nothing we asked for was ever too much trouble.
It’s no surprise that Adare Manor is an award-winning hotel. Its awards include #1 Resort in Europe – Condé Nast Traveler 2023 and #1 Resort in the World – Condé Nast Traveler 2022. The hotel was also awarded a five-star rating by Forbes Travel Guide 2023 & 2024.
Adare Manor is a rare ‘Calendar House’ – it is adorned with 365 leaded windows, 52 ornate chimneys, 7 stone pillars and 4 towers. The hotel is reminiscent of a chateau, sharing many features of the 19th century Gothic Revival in Britain and Ireland, displaying gargoyles, heraldry and decorative stone and wood carvings throughout.
There are 103 guest rooms in total. Our room type was the Deluxe Room, which was beautifully decorated, bright and spacious, and it had a luxurious marble bathroom. The beds were very comfortable, with 300 thread count, 100% cotton monogrammed bed linen. Our room felt very homely and cosy, and had all the amenities we required for our stay.
There are a few dining options available within the hotel, including a Michelin Star restaurant, The Oak Room, which is run by Head Chef, Michael Tweedie. The Oak Room tasting menu is available to residents and non-residents, Wednesday through Sunday.
Breakfast was served in The Gallery, a beautifully decorated room, lined on either side with 17th Century Flemish choir stalls and stained-glass windows. The food was delicious and plentiful, with a wide range of options available to us.
We enjoyed a pre-dinner drink in The Drawing Room. It was quiet, so we managed to get a table by the window, which overlooked the stunning gardens.
For dinner, we headed to the hotels Carriage House Restaurant, which is in a separate building at the rear of the hotel, overlooking the beautiful grounds. We had a lovely meal in a very relaxed environment. The food and service were excellent. This restaurant is open to residents and non-residents for breakfast, lunch and dinner, 7 days a week.
Adare Manor is home to the largest figurative bronze sculpture ever made in Ireland. The Bear sculpture, titled ‘In Search of Lost Time’, is situated at the rear of the hotel. Standing four metres tall, it is the work of renowned Irish artist, Patrick O’Reilly.
Adare Manor is set on 840 acres, so there is a lot to see and do within the grounds, including a golf course, a Padel Club, a state-of-the-art spa and pool, falconry, archery, fishing, cinema and horse and carriage rides.
The hotel has a magnificent golf course, where the 2027 Ryder Cup will take place. During the two-year reconstruction of the golf course, 220,000 tonnes of sand were used to ensure that the course had adequate drainage. The course is also one of only three golf courses in UK and Ireland that benefits from a SubAir Aeration system under all 18 greens.
Adare Manor has a beautiful 17-metre swimming pool, with an infinity edge and stunning views of the estate and woodlands. There are eight relaxation beds, a steam room and a sauna. The pool is located in The Padel Club, a two minute walk from the Manor House.
There is also a 30-seater cinema within the hotel, comprising of a 140” wide screen and very comfortable seating. They show a variety of movies each day, including a family matinee at 4.30pm and an evening screening for adults at 9.30pm. We went to see “Rocketman” after our dinner which was a great experience – we were given blankets and popcorn!
Not only are the hotel grounds lovely to walk around, but Adare town itself is also beautiful with its thatched roof cottages.
Our overnight stay in Adare Manor was very special. Every aspect of the hotel was luxurious. It was truly the best hotel experience we have ever had. Our only regret was that we were not able to stay any longer to avail of all that Adare Manor has to offer. A perfect excuse to return!
