he O’Two Hotel is a 4-star luxury boutique hotel situated in Mouille Point, near Green Point Park. This hotel is in a great location, right on the seafront, and a short walk away from the V&A Waterfront. It is 23km from Cape Town International Airport.
The service in this hotel was exceptional. All of the staff were so welcoming and friendly. They were also incredibly accommodating. Our flight was an overnight flight, and we arrived at the hotel very early in the morning. Our room wasn’t ready, but they allowed us to use another room while we waited.
The O’Two is small and intimate, with only 34 rooms. It is a very trendy hotel with beautiful, colourful artwork hanging on the walls.
Our room type was a Standard Queen Room, which had gorgeous views of Table Mountain. Our room was clean and very modern. The beds were very comfortable.
There is an outdoor rooftop swimming pool and bar with beautiful panoramic views of Cape Town.
They don’t serve food on site which was the only downside but there are two restaurants next door, Lillies and Bobos where we had breakfast most mornings.
The hotel offers an amazing inexpensive laundry service with a very quick turnaround, which we availed of while there.
If hiring a car, there are a couple of car parking spots directly outside the hotel. Otherwise, there is a car park across the road which is free for O’Two guests.
One thing to be mindful of is South Africa’s load shedding with widespread national blackouts of electricity supply. The electricity would be cut off for a period of time during the day. Thankfully, our hotel had a generator, so there was never an issue with electricity.
We had a fantastic week-long stay in the O’Two Hotel. The friendly environment and personalised service are what makes this hotel so unique.
The O’Two Hotel are currently running an offer if you book directly on their website, you can get a 30% discount with code WEBSITE30. For more information, visit https://www.otwo.co.za/.
Next time we visit Cape Town, we will probably stay in Camps Bay as it is where we spent most of our time, but this location was perfect for our first visit.
Our top tips if visiting Cape Town:
❖ Irish Citizens who are planning to visit South Africa for less than 90 days, do not require a visa
❖ Summer (November to March) is the best time to visit Cape Town
❖ The currency is Rand (ZAR). Download a currency converter on your mobile
❖ Hire a car – it makes it so much easier to get around. We hired a car with Europcar, who were very efficient and reasonably priced. They have a pickup point at Cape Town International Airport. The whole process was very straight forward
❖ Be sure to have phones charged in advance of load shedding outages. A lot of establishments have generators, but some don’t, so be mindful of this
❖ If getting taxis, use Uber. Taxis are cheap and very readily available on this app
❖ If you plan on using a lot of data eg. google maps, we strongly recommend getting an eSIM, as data roaming charges are astronomical. We got an eSIM with unlimited data from a company called Holafly. This was really easy to set up and was reasonably priced
❖ There is a high crime rate in Capetown, especially carjacking. Like visiting any major city, you need to have your wits about you. Don’t walk anywhere at night, take an Uber instead. Keep your valuables close to you. Be aware of your surroundings. Avoid the township areas
❖ Cape Town can be very windy, so be sure to pack some layers
❖ Although parking is free most places, there are parking attendants who will help you find parking. We usually tipped them R10
