    Restaurant Review: Gloria Osteria, Dublin

Located on Westmoreland Street in the heart of Dublin City, Gloria Osteria is the city’s newest and most enchanting culinary destination. Inspired by the elegance and sophistication of a Milanese palazzo, the restaurant is housed in a beautifully restored 19th‑century listed building that radiates character, allure, and timeless style.

Gloria Osteria is part of the Paris-born Big Mamma Group, renowned for its portfolio of 30 distinctive European restaurants, including Pink Mamma in Paris and Giacomo in Monaco. It offers an authentic Italian dining experience in a setting that seamlessly blends old-world elegance, design, and vibrant charm.

The Dublin opening follows the success of Gloria Osteria in Milan (December 2023) and Barcelona (April 2025). Guests are welcomed into a meticulously restored, 1970s-inspired palazzo, masterfully designed by Big Mamma’s in-house team, Studio Kiki, creating a space that is both stylishly grand and genuinely welcoming.

The interior of Gloria Osteria is richly atmospheric, with deep burgundy tones, dark reds, and warm ambient lighting. The walls are lined with an eclectic mix of vintage fashion, retro photos and antiques. Highlights include a 10-metre Rosso Levanto marble bar, timber joinery handcrafted in Arezzo, vivid scarlet Jacopo Foggini chandeliers.

The main dining room offers spacious, elegant seating with a combination of booths, tables, and chairs. For a more intimate experience, the Salottino accommodates 22 guests.

Head Chef Davide Migallo curates a menu of classic Italian dishes with playful twists, using ingredients sourced from Italian artisans such as Caseificio la Murgia for burrata, Mazara del Vallo for red prawns, and Famiglia Gennari for 24-month Parmigiano Reggiano. Signature dishes, including extra-long Spaghettoni al Tartufo and Veal Ossobucco (slow-cooked in Guinness), showcase creativity alongside tradition.

Our meal began with Crocchette di Vitello Tonnato – slow-cooked pulled veal with salsa tonnata and capers. For the main course, we had the Sideways Lasagna, layered with beef and veal ragù, San Marzano tomato sauce, and béchamel. Dessert was the decadent Soufflè al Cioccolato e Pistacchio: a Valrhona 70% chocolate soufflé with a molten ganache centre, served with pistachio ice cream. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavour.

Overall, our meal at Gloria Osteria was excellent, with well-prepared dishes that highlighted high-quality ingredients and classic Italian flavours. The attentive service and stylish setting added to the experience. A meal worth seeking out.

Bookings open 30 days in advance at 9AM. Opening hours are Sunday to Thursday, 12PM–3PM and 5PM–9.45PM, and Friday and Saturday, 12PM–10.30PM.
